About

The Skyline Design Project is a student led competition to design the public space of the Skyline Train Station and activate the relationship between Keone’ae Train Station and UH West Oahu.

Our goal is to reimagine this station as a gateway to experience, that fosters community connection, while incorporating the spirit of UH West Oahu by focusing on the values and culture the university embodies.

At the end of this design challenge one team’s entry will be selected by the clients. The team will be asked to execute their design for installation on site Summer 2025.

This space will be a blend of functional transit, dynamic community gathering, and intellectual stimulation. It should be a living space that grows with the community, offering moments of pause, inspiration, and cultural connection. The challenge will be designing a fluid environment that embraces the cultural richness of the Hawaiian context, the connection to our ʻOhana, and the vibrant, ever-evolving nature of the campus.

The Design Teams

Four teams were formed and tasked with Project Town Gown

The teams were challenged with the design task of building a space that feels both transitional and destinational, blurring the lines between transportation infrastructure and educational space.
